This is my blog that's real purpose to get Shaquille enthusiasts and Shaq card collectors alike to have a place to discuss rare Shaquille O'Neal cards. I've been collecting, pretty much strictly, Shaquille O'Neal cards for many years. I what I discovered, as have many other collectors, is that there many thousand Shaquille O'Neal cards, of which there are quite a few rare, numbered, and parallel versions of his base cards. This blog is to help investigate and showcase Shaq's rare cards.
Ok, so here we have a 1999-2000 Shaquille O'Neal fleer Mystique #22 card, parallel. OR IS IT? This is my first post and this is the type of discussion/investigation I want to conjure here on my SHAQCARDS blog.
As mentioned this is some kind of parallel version of 1999-2000 Shaquille O'Neal fleer Mystique #22 card. The base version of this card is similar in that it is (front) purple on top, goldish on bottom, but the peanut looking area with Shaquille's name is silver. This card's is gold in the peanut looking area with Shaquille's name on it.
And of course the biggest difference is that the whole back has a gold glitter/sparkle look to it that I have absolutely never seen on any card, be it basketball, football, hockey, any card ever!
Now there is another parallel version of this card which is the serial numbered STAR series version. Which is (front) gold bottom with red peanut area and red serial numbers up to 2500. Nice card still sells kind of cheap on ebay, but I like this on e too.
Ok now we have identified 2 other versions of this card, neither of which have the same same front of this card and obviously not the back. SO WHAT IS THIS CARD?
I wrote another Shaq card collector last year and he said "it could be" some kind of printer's proof card. Not sure how that possible since I've never seen a proof card with sparkle back that looks like the sparkle from Olympic sparkle cards (see ebay for examples). Maybe it's some kind of wild sticker? Or is it just an error (I don't think so ...).
I have only read about the auction. I have seen some shaqs that are proofs or whatever from the auction on ebay. Do you have a 1994-95 finest cornerstone test refractor? I have the lottery prize refractor.
actually i tried this once before on ebay last year, and that where i got the info that it may have been a proof card ... yes i bought this on ebay also about 2 years ago, i know that because all my cards came from ebay, well like 99% ... no i dont have a cornerstone test refractor ... actually not sure if ive ever seen the test refractor version ... isnt the cornerstone card the clear card? so guess the test refractor version is like the BEST SHOTS REFRACTOR (just assuming) ... the lottery prize refractor is nice too ... Not boasting, but i have like 15 test refractors ... love the test refractor cards ! ok back to this card ... Did the seller say where it came from? A pack? An auction? Trace its origin! THe cornerstone is not a clear card. thats the ironman. I have never seen a cornerstone refractor!. only read about it. Lottery prize refractor is RARE!.. I have 95-96 finest orange test refractor in psa 10! I have a 93-94 skybox shaq talk double front error and a 96-97 flair hot shots shaq with michae jordans name on front!

Ok so I was looking on beckett.com and there are 2 more parallel versions: a gold version that is not numbered and a 1/1 version. Maybe you have the 1/1 or and error of the gold version.

no pics available. The gold version looks just like what you've got but it doesn't say about the back of the card being bedazzled. It doesn't say but i would think the 1/1 would have it marked on the card. Is there a jordan in this set? See if you can talk to a jordan collector and see if there is a card like yours
OK SO WE NARROWED IT DOWN TO THE FACT THAT THIS IS A PARALLEL OF THE GOLD MYSTIQUE PARALLEL CARD. I FOUND ONE ON AMAZON SELLING FOR JUST A COUPLE OF BUCKS ... BUT I HAVE TO SAY THAT THE FRONTS WERE SIMILAR, BUT THE COLORS WERE SLIGHTLY OFF ... COULD HAVE BEEN THE DIFFERENCES IN THE PHOTO QUALITIES, BUT MAYBE NOT ...
Maybe the sparkle on the back is the stuff that makes the front look kinda like a refractor. Is the the card thinner than other cards in the set? Like maybe its like a blank back error or something.
no, actually the front is just like the gold version. more to the point ive realized it is the gold version. i havent had the card in my hand in a while and i dont own the gold version (which i should get for a definite comparison) but i dont remember the card being any thinner or shinier then what should be normal, not to say it isnt, bc like i said i never had the "real" gold version next to it to compare. and as far as it being an error, i mean if it is it's the mother of all errors! you know there are "no foil" errors where ppl are asking for 2500$ ok thats too much even for bret farbe rc, but this aint no opps card, this is like how the hell did that get there ... so im really leaning towards this was done on purpose ... like someone said lets see how this would look with this wild sparkle all over the back.

Do you guys remember these? I bought a 16 box case and some extra boxes back in the day... these are not 1/1's hahaha just the peel that came on both sides and you would peel them. I guess somebody sold him a 1/1???

I reported the auction for keyword spamming and advertising his blog a while back, but apparently eBay doesn't want to oblige to taking it down, as it might make them some $$$ if it sells!

Saddest thing is some poor schmuck will end up paying a grand for that crap. As far as eBay removing listing...forget about it. Obviously, they leaked out the back door, but A lot of them are graded very high. seems strange to me. Obviously, they leaked out the back door, but A lot of them are graded very high. seems strange to me. I have one of the Four sport Shaq and kareem abdul jabar autos that only is signed by kareem?? wicked weird.
